Studio Regulations

Tuition

Tuition is non-refundable and payable in advance. Tuition will be paid in four equal installments during the school months (Fall I, Fall II, Winter, Spring), and one separate summer term installment. BDA accepts check, cash, or credit card. Tuition is due one week prior to the start of each term. Please check the school calendar for specific dates.

Tuition statements will be automatically emailed to each family 3 weeks before the start of a session. The email subject will read “Statement from Barrington Dance Academy”. This is your invoice for next session. If your credit card is on file, it will be auto charged on the due date.

Parent Portal: You may access your account online using our Parent Portal.

First time setup: If you have provided your email to BDA, enter the email provided, click “forgot password” and follow the instructions to set up a password. https://app.thestudiodirector.com/barringtondanceacademy/portal.sd?page=Login

A $10 late fee will be added to any late payment. After the first week of classes each term, students will not be admitted into class until any outstanding balance is paid.

New Student registration fee is $10. Registration fee is waived for continuing students. A $10.00 costume and prop fee is automatically added each term for Creative Movement & Pre Ballet.

Students will automatically be re-enrolled each session during the school year, unless we have received written notice to drop or change a class. Notification should be given prior to the start of the session.

Individual classes will be billed at $20 per hour. BDA does not pro-rate tuition except for new students who join mid-term.

Parents Week

During Parents Week, parents/family/friends are invited to watch the students during their regular class times. Creative Movement & Pre Ballet classes will include an in-studio recital performance for family and friends. Costuming will be provided by BDA.

Each instructor will advise parents of his/her policy regarding photo and video during parents week. Some instructors allow photo/video throughout the class, while others will give parents an opportunity during the last few minutes of the class session to take photo and video.

In order to allow students to focus, photo and video are only allowed during parents weeks. Please do not record from the hallway during other class sessions.

Inclement Weather

If Barrington 220 school district is closed for inclement weather, BDA will also be closed.

On a Saturday, or if weather becomes inclement during the afternoon/evening, please check the BDA phone message (847-382-6333), and an email will be sent in case of class cancellation.

Behavior / Class Etiquette

·       A message should be left at the studio (office@barringtondance.org, 847-382-6333) if a student is to be absent from class. Missed classes should be made up within the current session in the same or lower level class. Regular attendance is necessary for proper growth and allows class members to progress at approximately the same pace.

·       Please arrive five minutes early for class if at all possible. Late students will not be admitted to class, as a proper warm-up is necessary for health reasons. If an instructor deems it unsafe for a student to participate, the student should observe class for that day.

·       No one other than the students and instructor(s) are allowed in the studio during class unless special arrangements have been made. There are five parent observation weeks per year.

·       BDA is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

·       Please advise us of any health problems we should be aware of (such as asthma, diabetes, food allergies, other allergies, etc.) as soon as possible.

·       We encourage parents of young dancers to take them to the rest room prior to the start of class.

·       Parents of young dancers must chaperone their children before and after class. Hanging off studio barres, running and climbing on equipment are not allowed. Older dancers should be quiet in the hallways and changing area before and after class.

·       Please use all available cubbies for storing dance bags and other personal items.

·       Please register your student according to the teacher’s recommendation. This is important for injury prevention, the child’s self-esteem, and positive group dynamics.

·       Dancers who are injured should observe class. If there is an extended injury or illness, please speak with the director or your student’s instructor regarding this policy.

·       Please be prompt picking your dancer up at the end of class.

Injury Release, Photo Release & Social Media Policy

As a voluntary participant, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of injury associated with any form of physical activity, including this activity. I affirm that my child has no physical, mental, or medical condition that to my knowledge would endanger my child or others if my child participates. I agree to assume the full risk of injuries, damages, or loss that my child may sustain as a result of participation. I hereby acknowledge that I understand the risks of participation and release and discharge the Barrington Dance Academy, the Barrington Dance Ensemble, and its respective directors, insurers, employees, and representatives from any claims.

My student’s photo/video image may be used in BDA marketing materials, including print and internet.

Any social media conduct that adversely affects a student’s dance performance, the performance of fellow dancers, or otherwise adversely affects instructors or BDA’s business interests, may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
